Today was the last day of school for Tristyn. He is done with the fourth grade. No more pencils. No more tests. No more homework. No more Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches.
Peanut Butter & Homemade Grape Jelly on Buttermilk Oatmeal Bread
Tristyn didn't really like pbjs this year. (Never mind that he did like them the previous 9 years) Every morning he would ask me 'Do I have hot food?' And I would try to give him hot food as often as possible...and as often as I could come up with things that I could keep hot (and fit!) inside of his his metal Thermos. The Thermos works very well and kept his food warm all the way to lunch time. He's opened it at lunch time to find pastas of all kinds, soups, stews and sweet and sour chicken and rice. When imagination and the leftovers failed me he got a PBJ. He wasn't thrilled about that.
But don't worry Tristyn, today you ate your last peanut butter and jelly for a long time. Because there's quite a few things that I couldn't fit in your thermos. Like grilled cheese sandwiches, panini, fresh bread hot from the oven and pizza.
I think we'll start with a pizza like this one and we'll use some of that oregano that's coming up nicely in my garden.
