Whew! What a weekend! Rick and I spent the last few days in Philadelphia visiting our nephew, Quinn. He's about 6 months old now and growing so fast! He has that nice 'solid' feel to him finally where you feel you can give him a nice hug without hurting him. Of course we visited with his mother and father too. ;)
We arrived midday on Friday and after dropping my mother-in-law off at the house, Rick and I ran out to pick up a few things from Target. Mainly, tea, a book and a magazine and a couple of movies. That night we stayed in and we all ordered in Indian. I'm spoiled; I missed my Udipi Cafe sorely.
Saturday--Rick and I went downtown (more downtown?) and stopped at a few stores. Fantes, a kitchen store in the Italian market was the prime motivation for going out. I didn't get too much--I behaved myself!--but I brought home 3 cookie cutters including the always elusive football cutter, pie weights (my dried beans have had it!), a butter bell and a make-10-at-a-time ravioli maker. <---That was only semi-successful at dinner last night. I'll show everyone sometime when I get a bit more adept at it!
The six of us also visited the King of Prussia mall that afternoon but first we put in our name for a dinner reservation while we window shopped. Two and a half hours later we were all worn out from wandering around two malls and it was finally our turn to a table. Yes, we were aware getting a table on Valentine's Day would be difficult.
Sunday Rick, Nate and I walked around on South Street and had a quick lunch before returning back to the house. Later, Rick and I went back out and on a hopeful whim stopped in a Buddakan's where we were seated right away and got to enjoy a delicious dinner. We had Lobster Crepes and Pad Thai and it was just as good as we remembered from four years prior. There was a little movie theatre tucked into the bottom of a larger building just around the corner that we went to to see Slumdog Millionaire. We both really enjoyed the movie and it's moved up to the 'favorite movie in a long time' list.
Rick, Pat and I returned home yesterday around 1ish. Rick and I collected the kids and spent a very lazy day at home. I cooked dinner and that's about all I did before I went to sleep at about 7:30 and woke up about the same time this morning.
I'm not sure why I was so tired after the weekend because normally at home on the weekend we do twice as much. Our Philly trip was nice and relaxed and since we've been there so many times there was no reason to try to cram anything in (or take pictures of historical stuff to share with all of you) but still I felt rather worn out yesterday. But, after a good night's rest and some espresso, I think I'm ready for the week.
