Chocolate Cake with Strawberries and Chocolate Cake with Crema Pasticceria
Today, I opened my freezer and had a Ziploc of frozen strawberries fall on my feet. It was time to use them; I had frozen them quite a long time ago. But do you know--after I thawed them out they were just as sweet and fresh tasting as when I first put them in the freezer? This summer I will make a point to freeze even MORE fresh berries than I did this year. 8 months--yes, you read that right--EIGHT months they are almost as perfect as when I put them in. And I'll take sweet juicy strawberries that might look just the tiniest bit imperfect over the inferior, tasteless, out of season berries that are in the supermarkets right now.
In season fruit really is the best, but fresh, in season frozen at home isn't a bad second. =)
