Well you guys, I'm half way through Basic Cake Decorating. I'm pretty sure that I'll be signing up for Advanced Cake Decorating. And Marzipan. And Fondant. And on a totally unrelated note, Nicole and I want to eventually take some Pottery Classes.
At Class #2, we learned how to make rose buds, roses, leaves and basketweave. I really like making the roses. The rosebuds I could take or leave. The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing (top, basketweave, shells<--class 1), vanilla buttercream for the roses and buds, and dark chocolate buttercream for the leaves and stems. The dark chocolate buttercream is to DIE for.
I was nearly late picking up the kids from the bus stop today because I was so immersed in piping icing. I glanced at the clock, saw that it was 3:58 pm (kids get there at 4 pm!) and I sprinted the block and a half to the bus stop. They beat me by only a minute; they had walked down about 100 feet by themselves.
Time flies when you are piping icing. Who knew?
