I have been lucky that in the last two weeks of school, each of my children have had a day off from school that did not coincide with the other. Because of this, each child had an opportunity to have a day of doing only the things that they wanted to do. Yesterday's was Maia's day--her school is technically a city school and it gives a holiday day for Yom Kippur.
She enjoyed having a friend sleep over the night before her holiday and then playing all morning with that friend. Then, there was a trip to the playground to meet another friend, home for lunch and a few stories, going to see a matinee of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, a quick stop to pick up our CSA veggies, then home again for a quick dinner of sandwiches and wedding soup before heading off to big brother's soccer practice where she played at the playground with more friends.
Still, being the ambitious sort that I am, I managed to bake. Of course.
We needed it for dinner! Italian Wedding Soup and turkey and cheese sandwiches on Potato Rosemary Bread. There was even an extra boule and I caught my next door neighbor cleaning out his car and passed the extra one to him. =)
