You know. The one I was talking 'bout. The one that has convinced me to put down all needles and thread for a time. A long time.
I made Maia a little outfit some time ago. I believe it was a Simplicity (not simple--took me 2 days of hours and hours) pattern in a size 6 which is what Maia wears right now. A 6 is only a tad big on her so it's perfect--room for her to grow AND room for me to shrink!
I was so proud of myself. Cute fabric. Double sided tie that coordinated with the capris...
For goodness' sake---A ruffle! (and stray dog or cat hair)
But what's this? The pants could fit me! Okay, so I'd have to stretch the elastic some as you can see--but not much and doesn't everyone have to stretch the elastic some to get into the garment? I'll also admit that I have an 'old fashioned' figure--that ol' hourglass shape and my waist is only about 2 3/4 inches bigger than Maia's.
BUT allowing for my freakishly small waist (it's freakish because I'm 5'7!) ***edited to add--so as not to seem a braggart...having a tiny waist makes one's bottom look waaaay bigger than it really is*** WHY DOES THE SHIRT PRETTY MUCH FIT ME TOO????? Which means--you got it--it falls off of Maia. =(
I have no clue what childrens sizing guide Simplicity uses but it's definitely NOT the one that Old Navy and the Children's Place uses.
This, my friends, is why you've seen very few crafty things on this blog recently and mostly kids, gardening and baking.
I'm a failure at sewing.
