My trip to NYC was fun. I got a lot of shopping in but not nearly enough. Can it ever be enough? I don't think so. With so little time and the cold weather we stuck to the main shopping arteries--Times Square, Fifth Ave., etc. Even so, there were some stores that literally had LINES outside to get into it. The way people were lined up with a 'bouncer' it looked as if they were trying to gain entrance to a particularly hot nightspot. It was rather odd which stores had these lines and which ones didn't. For example, Abercrombie and Fitch had a line around nearly a half of a block but the Gap had about as many shoppers in it that you would find inside one in PIttsburgh. The Hershey Candy Store had a line but not the M&M store. Though--to be fair--the M&M store had THREE stories which is why their line was only inside to get on the escalator and not an outside line.
The American Girl store was where I wanted to go the most in order to pick out a few things for Maia for Chrismas. Last Christmas and for her birthday I ordered them online and it's much more of a treat to pick them out in person. There are just so many different things to choose from and being able to see them all is much better. Plus, you get to see all the little girls walking around the store with their dolls. I cannot wait until I can take Maia there. Hopefully soon--though I hear there is an American Girl store in Chicago which is a city I've not been to yet and would like to go to. So maybe we'll end up taking Maia to that one first.
There isn't a boy equivalent of the American Girl store (that I am aware of) but I wasn't too concerned because I had already gotten a few things for Tristyn for Christmas a couple of weeks ago when I found this new toy store that has the 'motherload' of Star Wars toys. I didn't pick up a lot more gifts for Christmas in NYC but I did get a few others plus Hershy Kisses in some new flavors: Hot Cocoa Creme, Mint Truffle Cream and Candy Cane Kisses. The Candy Cane Kisses are my favorite with the the Mint Truffle coming in a close second.
Finally, since our Macy's doesn't carry it, I was able to get the perfume I dearly love. Bulgari Rose Essentials. This scent makes me very happy. Extremely happy. I ganked the description off of the web site to share since I can't possibly do it justice:
“A sensual rose tribute”
Rose Essentielle Eau de Parfum is a voluptuous tribute to the enduring beauty of the rose. Sensual and assertively feminine, the Rose Ottomane and Rose Prélude bouquet is counterbalanced by the lightness of sambac jasmine and mimosa, and garnered with the fruity, jewelled top notes of blackberry and violet leaves.
Underlying Rose Essentielle are tactile base notes of musk and sandalwood. And revealing the scent’s emotional heartbeat: the passionate, sensual, headiness of patchouli
You know how some women feel about their lipstick? Or their mascara? That if they could only have one item that's what it would be? Well perfume, and this one in particular is my one item.
The four of us went to Victoria's Secret where Cathy and I proceeded to toss pretty things (panties and bras--didn't really take the time for other lingerie/nighties) into the shopping bags we were handed upon entering the store. The store was two stories and had a little bit of everything. Had it not been for the crowds of women I'm sure I would have walked out with the 'Twelve Days of Pretty Panties.' As it was I'll be celebrating the 'Nine Days.'
I also got a few other things from here and there--things like sweaters and shirts--but I won't bore anyone with the particulars. There were so many places we didn't get to including other parts of the city that I think there will have to be a re-do.
But I'll be a good girl and wait until Spring. My wallet insists on it.
