Rick pretty much had a full day of meetings on Tuesday. I woke up just as he was leaving the room. My morning was spent.....enjoying a cup of tea while surfing the 'net, going to the gym, taking a long lovely bubble bath, strolling through Boston Commons, shopping at Macy's and then coming back to meet Rick for lunch.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants attached to the hotel. Both of us chose to have clam chowder and we shared a small appetizer (already, we were thinking of dinner and saving room!). Then, Rick had to sign in at his next meeting and I entertained myself for a few minutes shopping at an 'in-hotel' jewelry boutique. I didn't have long though because Rick played hooky at this meeting and skipped out. We took a walk down Newbury Street which has mostly shopping that I could only dream about. Places like Chanel, Burberry, Armani and Valentino! Still, it was fun to look. It was a little brisk out and so we also used this opportunity to get a cup of coffee while we were window shopping.
Unfortunately, Rick couldn't skip the next meetings and I waited for him in our hotel room. It wasn't too long of a wait--only about 2.5 hours. We went to dinner in the North End and shared an appetizer and an entree which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it meant we had more room for dessert!
Finale (see above picture) is a desserterie that we always go to at least once when in Boston. They serve a few regular food items, but they are things like Petite Duck Confit and not anything one could really fill up on. Mostly everyone goes there for desserts and drinks only. We were no different and got the Molten Lava Cake to share. It comes with three scoops of gelato--chocolate, vanilla and coffee--but I left them all to Rick as I don't really care for gelato and besides the cake is just too rich and good to let any other taste interfere with the enjoying of it!
