The ladybugs arrived courtesty of the DHL guy yesterday around lunchtime.
They can't be released in the heat of the day/when the sun is shining
on the spot where they are to go so I had to store them overnight.
In the refrigerator! ick!
Luckily they were too well packaged to get out.
This
morning, armed with cameraIi took the ladybugs outside to release
them. It was hard trying to put a slit in the bag without cutting one
or more of them because as they warmed up they started moving much
more. I had to shake them down several times before I managed to use a
knife to slit open the bag
once
They started coming out they came out at an alarming rate. I couldn't
shake them out quick enough and they kept trying to crawl up my arm and
launch off. I ended up placing the bag down in each spot I wanted them
to go and then flicking a few off on top of the plants so I could pick
the bag up and move it.
They wasted no time AT ALL. check it out:
